Little Movers is committed to providing a safe, supportive and welcoming environment for all children and families attending our classes.
We recognise our responsibility to safeguard and promote the welfare of all children and aim to ensure that every child feels safe, secure and able to enjoy movement through play.
Safeguarding POlicy
1. Recognising & Responding to Concerns
At Little Movers, we understand that safeguarding concerns may arise in a variety of ways, including:
-
Changes in a child’s behaviour or demeanour
-
Signs of distress, fear or withdrawal
-
Unexplained injuries or repeated accidents
-
Inappropriate behaviour from adults or children
If a concern arises during a class:
-
The class lead will remain calm, supportive and non-judgemental
-
The child will be reassured and listened to appropriately (without leading questions)
-
Any immediate risks will be addressed to ensure the child’s safety
Little Movers does not investigate safeguarding concerns but will take all concerns seriously and act appropriately.
2. Reporting & Recording Procedures
All safeguarding concerns will be:
-
Recorded in writing as soon as possible, including dates, times, observations and any disclosures
-
Stored securely and confidentially
Where appropriate, concerns will be reported to:
BCP Children’s First Response Hub (MASH)
This is the local authority safeguarding contact for Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole.
If a child is believed to be at immediate risk of harm, emergency services will be contacted.
Parents will normally be informed of concerns unless doing so would place the child at further risk.
3. Code of Conduct
All adults attending Little Movers are expected to:
Treat all children with respect and kindness
Promote a positive, inclusive and safe environment
Use appropriate language and behaviour at all times
Respect personal boundaries of all children
Follow class rules and guidance provided by the class lead
The class lead will:
Maintain professional boundaries at all times
Act in the best interests of all children
4. Supervision & Responsibility
Little Movers is a parent-accompanied class
Parents/carers are required to remain with their child at all times
Parents/carers are ultimately responsible for the supervision, behaviour and safety of their own child during the session
The class lead is responsible for facilitating the session and ensuring the environment is safe, but does not take on sole supervisory responsibility for individual children
5. Complaints Procedure
Little Movers is committed to addressing any concerns or complaints promptly and fairly.
Any concerns should be raised directly with the class lead in the first instance
Complaints will be taken seriously and handled in a professional manner
Where necessary, a written record of the complaint and outcome will be kept
If a complaint relates to safeguarding, it will be handled in line with safeguarding procedures outlined above.
6. Use of Photographic & Video Equipment
Photography and recording is permitted during sessions but only of your own child
-
Parents must ensure no other children are included in photos unless consent has been given by the parent/carer the child is attending with.
-
Parents must ensure that no other children are visible in their photos or videos, including in the background
The class lead reserves the right to ask for photography to stop if these guidelines are not followed.
7. Social Media & Online Safety
Little Movers may use photographs or videos for promotional purposes, including social media.
-
No images or videos of children will be shared without prior parental consent
-
Children’s identities will be protected wherever possible (e.g. no names, limited visibility)
-
Parents will always have the option to decline or withdraw consent
All content will be used respectfully and appropriately.
8. Updates to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page.
